Health and medical insurance are very important. I can never stress this point enough. There are millions of people out there with no medical insurance coverage in our own country, and I truly believe that they are insane. If you don’t have medical insurance coverage, you either need to find a job that provides it too you or you need to explore some possible options of purchasing coverage yourself.

Think of medical insurance this way. An insurance company takes your payment every month, called your premium, and puts it into their accounts, along with everyone other person that they insure. Out of those accounts comes money for payment of employees, electricity, water, sewer, garbage….whatever needs to be paid. However, also out of those accounts come payments to doctors and hospitals that have provided, or are continuing to provide health care to sick or injured people who are covered under other insurance policies that the company has issued. When you get ill, some of the money in those accounts goes to pay your doctor to take care of you. Depending on how ill, or how badly injured you are, your bills may even exceed the amounts that you’ve paid in over the years. Cancer, for instance, is incredibly expensive to treat. But you have to have treatments if you want to live for any length of time after being diagnosed with cancer. How would you pay for a $50,000 treatment if you didn’t have insurance? That could take you a very long time indeed, and there’s no guarantee that you’d be able to come up with enough money to begin treatment.

If you think of medical insurance in this way, like a really big health care piggy bank, you can get an idea of how they are able to meet your needs and cover the costs of your treatments. Not every one who has medical insurance coverage gets seriously ill or injured. Most of the people who have coverage never use the same amount that they pay into it, because they simply don’t need to use up that much. However, if you don’t have any coverage when you do need it, you’re in serious trouble. This could literally cost you your life, and it’s the only one you have. Don’t be foolish enough to put yourself in the situation where you need health insurance and don’t have it. Your family would miss you when you died, and that’s a complete waste of your life, especially if it’s something that is easily taken care of, if only you’d had the sense to purchase a good medical insurance health care plan the could meet all of you and your families needs. Having medical insurance can literally mean the difference between life and death. It will be the best money you’ve ever spent, especially as you get older, and it will pay for itself making up for days lost to illness when you couldn’t go to work or be there for your family when they needed you.
